Silberman, Steve (2015) NeuroTribes- The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity
Silberman, Steve (2015) "NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity". New York: Random House.
NeuroTribes is an expressive, factually-rich history of the development of the diagnostic entity of autism and the development of the wider spectrum. Steve Silberman brings to life the forgotten or suppressed contributions of Hans Asperger and others who recognized an autistic spectrum long before their adoption within the DSM. Leo Kanner and others come out badly and Hans Asperger comes out the hero in this narrative. The book is a polemical work of advocacy for the neurodiversity movement, but tends to equate autism with giftedness and intelligence.
