This is a beautiful, madcap animation featuring New Yorker Max Horovitz (voice of Philip Seymour Hoffman), a Jewish man with autism who lives alone. Max is accidentally drawn into the world of a lonely 8-year-old Australian girl who randomly selects him as a penpal. A lifelong correspondence follows, with humour and some sad interludes.
