Rain Man (1988)
Rain Man (1988)
Fictional (15)
The story of Raymond “Ray” Babbit (Dustin Hoffman) is the most-quoted of all films about autism, and the term “Rain Man” is now becoming common in hip-hop and rap music - the term ‘rainman’ originally meant a trader who brought in successful deals. Raymond “Ray” Babbit is an idiot savant, a socially-inept mathematical genius whose character is a composite of a number of different real people, principally Kim Peek. It is noteworthy that Kim Peek probably had FG syndrome, an X-linked syndrome that mimics autism.
