McKay, Emily - "The Farm", "The Lair", "The Vault" and "The Before"
This is a young adult vampires-and-zombies in which teenage twins Lily and Mel battle to save the human species from the undead. Mel is autistic and has limited verbal communication, but chapters are written from her perspective, expressing the thoughts that she wished she could communicate with those around her. I found the character unconvincing and the imagery of the world - identifying people by their 'music', communicating through song and rhyme - unlike anything I recognize.
