Follows a man who was the driver in an accident that results in the death of the only daughter of Linda Freeman (Sigourney Weaver). Linda is a woman with autism who lives alone by choice. The driver feels an insatiable need to seek forgiveness from Linda Freeman, whose attitude to the death and his feelings both puzzle and enrage him. His presence in a close-knit rural community draws attention, but also changes the way that Linda Freeman interacts with her neighbours. Sigourney Weaver delivers a convincing performance of an adult with severe autism.
