Mitchell, Jonathan - The Mu Rhythm Bluff
Mitchell, Jonathan - "The Mu Rhythm Bluff"
Drake Dumas is a 40-year-old autistic virgin, unlucky in cards and unlucky in love. This is one of the tiny number of fictional works about autism written by people with autism, and the first-person narrative is authentically that of a man with autism, challenged by a society that his little tolerance for difference. In the plot of this adventure story, Drake takes part in a research project on transcranial magnetic stimulation which dramatically changes his luck with both women and Poker. The novel tends to objectify the one-dimensional women who Drake is lucky with and to fetishize financial rewards. As a full-length novel from an autistic voice, it is a valuable contribution and you can support Jonathan Mitchell's writing by buying a copy.
